This course complies with the legislative content and mandates of AB 392, SB 230 and PC835a
The emphasis for this class will be the development of quality handgun instructors. Students are expected to have a better than average ability to manipulate their assigned weapons in a safe manner. Live fire exercises are for the purpose of developing effective coaching techniques, designing courses of fire and developing the ability to recognize and correct shooting deficiencies as orchestrated by the instructors.
This will be an interactive class with student participation being required during all aspects of the training. Throughout the week, there will be individual and group projects to be completed. By the last day, each student will have been required to make presentations and run several range drills.

Each student is required to bring the following equipment to the course:

Duty pistol, 3 magazines and related gear.

Off Duty pistol, 2 magazines & holster (duty pistol in off duty holster ok)
-
Magazine carriers and Tactical Vest) if used by agency).
-
Range safety equipment (ear protection, eye protection, hat etc.)
-
Flashlight & Pistol Weapon Light
-
Body armor (only if required by your agency)
-
Note taking material & Sharpie
-
1000 rounds of pistol ammunition
-
10 dummy rounds
-
100 rounds off duty pistol ammo
-
Optics and batteries if required
-
Whistle and timing device (i.e. stopwatch)
-
Cleaning equipment
-
Foul weather gear
-
Training aids for their class presentation (Red guns etc…)
SUCCESS CRITERIA
To successfully complete this course and be certified as a firearms instructor, each student must:

Demonstrate safe weapon handling under all conditions at all times.
-
Demonstrate above average weapon handling skills.
-
Demonstrate above average knowledge of their weapons systems.
-
Have the appropriate equipment.
-
Failure to have above may be cause for dismissal on first day.
-
Turn in all required assignments timely.
-
Pass the shooting proficiency course of fire with 90% accuracy and no safety violations (Three attempts allowed)
-
Receive average or better evaluations on presentation and communication skills.
-
Pass the final written exam with 80% or better
FEE $750 Payable to: Tactical Firearms Training Institute Inc.
Payment by credit card or check is required a minimum of 30 days in advance of first day of class. Nonrefundable, if student cannot attend class the tuition will be put towards future classes.
